Q&A Tuesday: Favorite Department Store/Affordable Beauty Brands? | www.NinaSinganon.com

A friend and I were having a conversation the other day about the cost of my “hobby” and through the course of our conversation, she asked me what my favorite affordable and easily accessible brands were so I thought I’d share them with you guys too! Here are my top six affordable brands and my favorite products from them. I was thinking of doing my top 5, but thought to include one other affordable brand that isn’t available at the Department Stores, but is affordable. On to the list:

Bad to the Bronze

I love Maybelline’s Color Tattoo shadow bases especially since they released their Leather collection here in the Philippines! I also really like their Gel Liner. It’s inky black, easy to use and lasts all day. I also like the brush that comes with this set. From their Mineral Power line, I love their concealer. I think I’ve repurchased this at least three times in the last two years. It covers my (extremely) dark under-eye circles very well.

Nichido Eye Pencils, Face Powder

Nichido is definitely my go-to brand for affordable pencils! I really like their lip pencils (Rosette is a favorite and Coral Rust is beautiful too) and eye pencils that come in a lot of colors (black, bronze, purple, blue, aqua, white, khaki, green and many more). Very affordable at less than a hundred each. I also really like their face powder in the shade Amber. It’s a light yellow toned powder that I like to use as a setting powder under my eyes.

JAzzy Cosmetics, JAmes Cooper

Jazzy Cosmetics

I was pleasantly surprised when, as I was checking out the stuff from Jazzy Cosmetics, I saw that they hada cake eyeliner! Pretty awesome since most of the eyeliners I see in the beauty section are either gel, liquid or pencil. I also like their blushers – I use the brown to contour/bronze in the summer and the other one is a beautiful pink baked highlighter. A little pricey as far as local affordable brands go, but worth the money! Oh and the products are made in France.

Shawill Perfect Powder 003, Shawill Mascara

My all-time favorite mascara is from this brand. I love that it’s less than PHP200 but packs a punch! The bristles on the mascara wand are the traditional mascara bristles which I love – I am not a huge fan of the rubberized bristles. Last year, I also discovered  their Perfect Powder in the shade 003, which is a great cool-toned powder to use for contouring.

FS Cosmetics, Fanny Serrano, Eyeshadows

FS Cosmetics

I love the eyeshadows from this brand! They have a wide range of colors to choose from, highly pigmented and lasts a long time. I always hoard these eyeshadows when they go on sale, but if I ever run out of Ash Bronze (which is what I use on my brows most of the time), I won’t hesitate paying full price for it.

Avon Supershock Max Mascara Oriental Ideal Oil Control Pressed Powder

Now this is the least accessible out of the six, because you would need either an Avon lady or have an account with them online but I love the Ideal Oil Control Pressed Powder in Oriental because it’s not pink based (which most of the affordable powders in the drugstore/department store are) and the shade is a perfect match for Summer version Nina LOL! I also like their Supershock Max mascara and although the bristles on this are rubberized, I like the formula a lot.

That’s it! Are any of these brands your favorite department store/affordable brands too? I noticed a lot of new brands in the department store the last time I did my “beauty section stroll”, so I definitely need to check those out soon!
