I’ve been hearing great things about the Maybelline FitMe concealer for a while now – people are saying it’s a good dupe of the NARS Creamy Concealers although I can’t confirm because I don’t have the NARS one – but it wasn’t available here in the Philippines and quite hard to get a hold of… until recently.
Sometime mid-June, I was at the mall with my sister when I happened to find myself in the beauty section of the department store. I casually passed by the Maybelline counter, and saw the familiar packaging as I walked by. I immediately turned around and went back just to double check… Lo and behold, it was indeed the FitMe concealers! My eyes weren’t deceiving me!
I excitedly asked for all the shades just to see which one would suit me best, but the SA told me that in the Philippines, Maybelline only released 2 shades. If I’m not mistaken, they released only the shades Light and Medium here. BOO. I really wanted to see the other shades, but I bought the shade Medium to try.
Priced at Php299, you get quite a bit of product at 6.8ml. I like the sleek packaging although as with many drugstore/department store brands, I hate that it had SO MANY stickers that leave a sticky residue once removed.
I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and I like that it is very creamy and easy to work with. It doesn’t crease and doesn’t settle into your fine lines if blended properly. It has a doe-foot applicator which makes it very easy and convenient to use. The product is housed in a solid plastic packaging, so you can easily travel with it and not worry about glass bottles breaking (I’m looking at you, MAC Pro Longwear!!!)
Now here’s the not so good part. Although I like it, I don’t know if I like it better than my long time favorite Mineral Power concealer from Maybelline which gives me great coverage. It’s a good concealer, don’t get me wrong, and it is cheaper by about a hundred pesos, but I find that it is not as opaque as the Mineral Power. I don’t know if its because of the method in which I apply it (apply, let it rest for a few seconds, blend with a damp blending sponge, set with translucent powder) but I’ll keep using it to see if I can find a better way to get the most out of this concealer.
All in all, I think this product is great for someone who has a bit of darkness under the eyes, or redness around the nose, but maybe not for someone like me who has a very dark under eye area (I didn’t win the genetics lottery for no-puff, bright underye area, boohoo). I give it 4 out of 5 stars!
If you want to try the Maybelline FitMe Concealers, you can visit a Maybelline counter (best if you don’t know your shade so you can check) or order online from BeautyMNL!
