Oscar’s 2016 Beauty Picks | www.NinaSinganon.com

I used to watch awards shows religiously. More than seeing who won for what, I love seeing the red carpet fashion, the glitz and the glam, and of course looking at the hair and make up the attendees are wearing. This year, I wasn’t able to watch the Oscar’s but I am so happy that my 6th Grade crushie-wushie Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar!!! Been a long time coming, for sure.

Anyway, on to the hair and make up. You know how these days, people prefer the strong contours, hard lines, and “on fleek” make up? I like it for some occasions, there are definitely places to wear full on make up (aka the club, parties, etc) – but to be honest, I much prefer the “still-you-but-enhanced” looks. (That’s just my personal preference, but if you like being “on fleek”, good on ya! As they say, keep doing you booboo!) Must be the age #Tita (MEGA LOL).

There were some pretty amazing beauty looks this year from Charlize Theron (who looks amazing all the freakin’ time) to Lady Gaga (love her pared down make up – she is absolutely beautiful) to Cate Blanchett (she always looks so regal – poised and elegant) but here’s my top 5 beauty looks from this year’s Oscar’s.

5 – Saorsie Ronan

OscarsI love what Mai Quynh (Chanel Make Up Artist) did to her eyes. Looks like she used a gunmetally-purple shade. It made her eyes look more green, no? And check out her brows – not well defined at all. It is slightly undone, which works well with her ultra glam dress and mismatched statement earrings.

4 – Olivia Munn

OscarsA little surprised to see the full-on orange lip appear on the red carpet, but Olivia Munn killed it! Her make up artist Patrick Ta customized this shade to match her dress by mixing two different lip colors.

3 – Sophie Turner

Oscars 2016How beautiful is she? Her face, her hair, her eyes – oh my gosh. I love that her make up is subtle and very age appropriate (she is only 20 years old). It doesn’t even look like she has eyeliner on. Her hair had soft waves – I mean with hair color like that, who needs elaborate hairstyles anyway?

2 – Margot Robbie

Oscar's 2016I always enjoy seeing Margot Robbie on the red carpet. For this year’s Oscars, she went with barely there make up and soft waves on her hair. I think it played off really well with her beautiful gold dress and killer smile!

1 – Rooney Mara

Oscars 2016I have always liked Rooney Mara’s sartorial choices and her make up is always flawless. It’s interesting that she went with full brows, smokey eyes, contour AND a bold lip, but all the elements worked beautifully together.

I loved looking through all the Oscar’s photos. So many beautiful looks, gowns, shoes and accessories – and the men looked so dapper too! Curious to see if the red carpet trends will translate to real life!

I had a (very) hardcore crush on Leo back in grade school, ever since I saw Romeo and Juliet. As in hardcore talaga ha ha ha! Cate Blanchett always looks stunning!!! 🙂 Timeless beauty.
