One of the things that I love to do is to look at Fashion Week photos and videos to stay updated not just with the fashion trends but the beauty trends as well. I started closely watching Fashion Week because I absolutely adore Pat McGrath – she has been in the make up industry for years and years and have worked many fashion shows, editorial shoots and more, and of course I always want to look at her work. She is so so inspiring – I am just in awe of her talent and in the process I see other beauty trends from different brands and artists as well. Oh to be creative and have the opportunity to do hair and make up for a living is a dream for me! For now, I have SO much work to put in to get at even half (or even a quarter really) that level hahaha!
Anyhow, here are my top three beauty trends from the New York Fashion Week Fall 2017:
NATURAL, EFFORTLESS, GLOWING SKIN
As evidenced by the Michael Kors, Alice and Olivia, Monse and Brock Collection shows.
I love that there is a shift from an extremely perfect base to a more natural, healthy and glowing look. I am a fan of both, to be honest, but I certainly much prefer the natural look for everyday. I love this “trend” and I hope it catches on because sometimes, less is definitely more!
GRAPHIC EYELINER AND STRONG GRAPHIC EYE LOOKS
As seen on Prabal Gurung (green, light blue and orange shades), Brandon Maxwell (black and metallic eyeshadows), Zadig + Voltaire (red, white and yellow shades) and Libertine (black exaggerated cat eye with glossy lid).
The make up does not look perfect, it seems as though everything was done in a rush and this is quite interesting to me. I also liked how simple these graphic liner looks are but they pack a punch! Quite an unusual way to wear eyeshadow/eyeliner and I really like it!
INNER CORNER HIGHLIGHT
As shown on the Calvin Klein (silver shimmer eyeshadow), Proenza Schouler (white eyeliner) and Jonathan Simkhai (little pearls glued to the inner corners) shows.
Now I normally do not highlight the inner corner of my eyes because I don’t think my eye shape is made for that particular look – but I’ve always liked it on others. This is a quick, surefire way to make you look more awake, plus it is easy to do as well. I love that for NYFW, they took it to the next level by using silver, stark white and *gasp* even pearls!
So those are my top three beauty trends from NYFW Fall 2017. Are you a follower of the fashion week beauty trends? What trends did you like, and what made you say “hell no!”? I’d love to know so leave me a comment.
