You cant deny the power of a good scent. A scent can instantly transport you to a specific time in your life, remind you of special occasions and people. I remember back in high school, I had a huge crush on a friend, and he used to use a Lacoste perfume – I don’t remember the name but it was a green square (with rounded edges) glass bottle with a white rubbery overlay and the Lacoste logo on the upper right (oha, I still remember the packaging LOL). Up to this day, every time I smell that perfume, I remember my silly teen-in-love moments, laugh and also – let’s be honest here – cringe at the fact that I thought I had “feelings” for the guy. LOL we’re still friends to this day, by the way, and it’s a running joke between us and our friends. #MejoEww LOL!!!
Around September of last year, my mom and I were obsessing over perfumes and fragrances. After much deliberation, research and testing, I decided to get the Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume. Fast forward to February, barely 4 months since I got it, I am almost all out. I say almost even though the bottle is completely empty, because I transferred some to a smaller spray bottle that I can bring with me wherever I go.
I first smelled MJ Daisy on a friend – we were hanging out at our house and she sprayed it on herself (hi J). Daisy was always on my list of scents to try, and when I smelled it that night, it became a part of my top 3.
Bright. Flirtatious. Free Spirit. Enter the world of Daisy: Fresh and feminine, with a playful innocence. Always elegant, always enchanting but not too serious Daisy for Women Eau de Toilette by Marc Jacobs is a sparkling floral bouquet, spirited and fresh, wrapped in comfort and warmth.
Topnotes – Violet leaves, wild strawberries
Midnotes – Violet petals, jasmine bouquet
Basenotes – Musk, vanilla infusion
The scent itself is a fresh and feminine floral-woody fragrance. I like that it’s a scent you can wear day or night, and you will always smell clean and sophisticated. It’s not what I would consider a sexy or seductive scent but more of a light, lovely and inoffensive scent – if you suffer from migraines or headaches caused by certain scents, I think you will like this because it’s a light fragrance and very soft. It’s an EDT (eau de toilette) so it doesn’t last as long as an EDP (eau de parfum) would, but I would still say that the sillage is okay – it fades after a few hours, but it doesn’t completely disappear. The scent was created by Alberto Morillas for Marc Jacobs and was launched in 2007, so I am pretty late in the Daisy game haha, but there is a reason why it’s stayed in the market for so long – it’s just a very nice everyday scent. I get so many compliments when I wear it, and I am so glad I tried it. 😊
The bottle is so adorable with the giant daisy flowers on the cap. Not gonna lie, one of the selling points to me was the packaging – I mean hello, I am a sucker for packaging – but I had an issue with the spray itself. It broke after a few weeks and I had to transfer the remaining perfume to a different spray bottle. That was a bit of a bummer, but I put on my resourceful hat and found a solution to the problem so it wasn’t a complete waste (naks, resourceful hat daw o). I kept the empty bottle and it is now part of my display area in my office.
I am now thinking of what to get as my next everyday scent. I’ve whittled the list down to 5 – Armani Si, Acqua di Gioa, Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming, Prada Candy or Versace Yellow Diamond Intense, but I am having a tough time choosing haha, although I think Acqua di Gioa and Versace Yellow Diamond Intense are more suited for day than the other three. Oh well, we’ll see which one I eventually end up with – I’ll have to visit the counters and do a wear test to make sure the perfumes suit me and my body chemistry. That’s my tip for buying scents – don’t be afraid to ask the sales associates if they can spray some of the perfume on you so you can walk around, see how it reacts to your body chemistry. Scents are expensive and it would be such a shame if you purchased a perfume only to find that it doesn’t mesh well with your body, right?
Anyhoo, how about you, what is your favorite scent? Let me know, I’d love to check those out too! 😊
