I will always love the color orange. It’s not my all time favorite color but I will always love it because it brings back so many fond memories.

I remember my High School barkada and I one day decided to buy the same bag, but in different colors. Mine was orange because it was my favorite color then. It also reminds me of a guy I had a HUGE crush on because he and his friends’ basketball jersey/theme color was orange and black. Oh so many great and embarrassing memories from that period of my life, thanks to my ever “supportive” friends. My secret crush did not remain secret for long. Thanks guys!

The color orange reminds me of so many good things, so when I saw the Orange Fix (214) nail lacquer from the Maybelline Color Show collection, I had to get it.

Orange Fix is a cool toned red-orange that I find is very flattering on my hands. I find that other oranges tend to make my hands look washed out and blah, but this one is surprisingly flattering to my morena skin.  It’s really pretty on the nails, and if you like sporting fun, summery colors on your nails, then this one is for you. It’s also perfect for red-nail-polish-wearing-girls that want a more fun, summery alternative.

Application is a breeze, but I find that after the first coat of application on both hands, the formulation becomes thicker and therefore harder to control. Not a huge problem, what I do is I close and shake the bottle every once in a while so that it will go back to its original non-thick consistency.

Formulation is great. I wasn’t expecting much but Orange Fix surprised me. The color is quite opaque. I applied three coats to get this color, but two coats is fine. I just wanted it to be more vibrant so I made it three, and then I applied a clear top coat. It also dried extremely fast for me,  which is amazing because the one thing that I hate about applying nail polish is the long wait for the polish to dry.

Longevity however, is just okay. The color remains as vibrant as the first time I applied it, but I find that it’s okay up until the fourth day, and then it starts to chip. I like my nail polish to stay perfect, once it starts to chip, I immediately remove it – I cannot stand chipped nail polish. I wash my hands often, so maybe that’s why but I have had other nail polishes before that remain perfectly okay for 5 to 7 days, so this one was kind of a let down.

The price point is reasonable at Php99.00 per bottle. There are 20 Color Show shades to choose from according to the Sales Associate I spoke to, and the great thing about it is the colors are not the usual ones you see from brands in the same price range – they have pinks, blues, greens, reds, purples, a yellow and a couple of neutrals in different finishes – semi-matte, chrome, satin and shimmer. Oh and did I mention that it’s Formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene free?

I do have to say, though, that the Color Show nail polishes were difficult to find! I found mine at PCX Rockwell, and I also saw the collection at SM Sucat but it took forever to find. I have been asking about the nail polishes for about 3 weeks, checking different malls, before I saw it at PCX. I guess it’s just taking them a while to release the collection in stores?
