Who leaves expensive lipstick in the car to melt? Me – that’s who! I went to the mall a few days ago, and left my make up kit inside the car. Sadly, in that make up kit was the Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in the shade Gabrielle.
I was so bummed to discover that it melted due to the extreme heat (hello, Manila summer) but it is still usable. I mean it looks like Meltman (with the power to melt ha ha ha, Nickelodeon kids unite) but the color and the formula is still as beautiful as when I first got it.
Gabrielle is a bright blue-based red, with a hint of gold shimmer. Don’t be alarmed by the shimmer though, it’s not at all gritty. I am normally anti-shimmer/anti-glitter for my lip products, but this one is very subtle and gives your lips that nice golden sheen. I think this is pretty neutral in that most skin tones can wear this and it would look beautiful.
Wear time is pretty impressive. I applied it at 4PM, had dinner and drinks and it was still there at around 9PM, albeit a little faded. I apply this using a lip brush, because it’s in no condition to be applied directly from the tube. *arrgh*
The Rouge Coco is perhaps my favorite formula out of all the Chanel lipstick formulas. That’s quite a statement, but it’s the best one I’ve used so far (granted I havent tried the matte range, but hey…). It is pigmented, but not drying and very comfortable to wear. It’s moisturizing too, but not as slippy as the Coco Shines.
I love a good red lipstick and I am happy I tried Gabrielle. A little p***ed off at myself for leaving it in the car, but at least it is still usable for now!
