Like so many people, I love the holiday season. I enjoy seeing my friends for our holiday dinners, seeing family and friends from overseas who come home for the holiday festivities. I enjoy walking past the beautiful holiday displays, seeing the Christmas lights and just the smell of Christmas in the air!
One other thing that I look forward to during the holiday season are the special holiday make up releases. Last year, I got the Benefit blusher kit which was a complete impulse buy, LOL. I was eyeing the palette from the Shu Uemura Shupette by Karl Lagerfeld holiday release and a lipstick from the Mac Prabal Gurung holiday release too but I wasn’t able to get a hold of either. Bummer.
This year, there are a lot of amazing holiday kits from Mac, Urban Decay, Make Up Forever, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Marc Jacobs – and I’ve whittled down my list to five. This is a toughie, because if I could have all, I would ha ha ha. #MakeUpHoarderProbzzz
Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette
I’ve always admired Gwen Stefani. I remember I bought their album (cassette tape!!!) back in 6th Grade after seeing the music video for Don’t Speak on MTV where she wore a pretty blue dress and her signature red lipstick and have loved her ever since. When I heard that Urban Decay was working with her, I was excited! I honestly thought she was going to come up with a lipstick line, but I am happy she decided to do an eyeshadow palette instead. This is going to be available on November 22 via their website.
Laura Mercier Sleek & Chic Eye Colour Palette
The first thing that caught my attention is the packaging of this palette. It looks super chic and sexy with the animal-esque print, that I had to look twice to confirm that it’s from Laura Mercier. You see, Laura Mercier’s packaging has always been minimalist and a little utilitarian, I think, that it is quite a surprise to see something like this from them. The eyeshadow colors are very wearable neutrals and because I haven’t tried any of the eyeshadows from LM, I think this would be a great way to test multiple shades and finishes in one go.
Guerlain Meteorites Perles des Neiges
Oh my gosh, look at that! How beautiful is the packaging of the Guerlain Meteorites? This isn’t really an essential, but JUST LOOK AT IT. Some of the powders are shaped into little stars – how can you not want this? Ha ha ha – I don’t think if I am insane enough to spend $80.00 on one product that isn’t really an essential but who knows, right? #ILikeShinyAndPrettyThings
Becca Afterglow Palette
If there’s one type of make up product I am obsessed with, it would be highlighters. I love the instant change it makes to a person’s skin – a good highlighter can make it look as though you didn’t have a long and restless sleep the night before, or that you’re suffering from cough and colds. Highlighter in the right areas can make you look “blooming” and “fresh”. Since the start of the year, I have been seeing great reviews for Becca products and I think this is a great way for me to try the Becca cult favorites. The palette comes with 3 of their Shimmering Skin Perfectors and Mineral Blushes. Great value, I think, considering you get to try 5 products for $39.50 (which is less than the price of one full size product).
Marc Jacobs The Sofia – Five Piece Petites Le Marc Lip Crème Collection
I’ve always wanted to try Marc Jacobs lipsticks and this set is a great opportunity to do so because it comes with 5 deluxe-sized lipsticks (I believe their best selling reds) and is housed in a leather case. The collection is named after Sofia Coppola, I think. Anyway, I like the simple black and silver packaging of the Marc Jacobs lipsticks – I don’t know if these are magnetized though – and I also like the fact that the whole set is housed in a patent leather pouch that Marc Jacobs designed specifically for the collection.
I hope local resellers stock these products so I can get my grubby hands on them ha ha ha! If I had to choose just one though, it would either be the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani palette or the Becca Afterglow Palette. How about you, are you as excited as I am for the holiday make up releases? What are you looking to get?
